This Spring, CHS Theater wowed audiences with the musical: “Urinetown”, a comedy with an underlying theme of political commentary.

The story takes place in the future in an unnamed town after a twenty year drought. Due to the shortage of water, the use of public toilets is now limited and comes at a cost thanks to Urine Good Company (the business that regulates the water). If anyone doesn’t pay or just pees on the street they are taken to Urinetown, a mysterious place with none of the amenities that the city has, which the characters later learn is really death. When the wages are raised to an unreasonable cost two brave young souls, Bobby Strong (played by Aaron Updike) and Hope Cladwell (played by Grace McNutt and Kate Johnson), rise up to save the city from the overbearing government rule of UGC. The story revolves around the uprising caused by these individuals and concludes with the overthrow of UGC and the subsequent deaths of everyone.

Maggie Moline said, “Lexi James [as Pennywise] blew me away as well as the Jacks [Spicer as Officer Lockstock and Jackson as Caldwell B. Cladwell]”

Meghan Davinroy added, “I thought everybody did really well and it was such a blast going to see it [the musical].”

Erin Jenkins said, “Berit was sensational as Pennywise, she has such a spark as an actress and a marvelous stage presence. It will be such a loss for the theater program to lose all of the seniors next year.”

The whole cast was spectacular and blew the audience away with the vocal, dance and acting skills to create a great overall show. Here is a list of the cast:
