The person down the street is dying

Of starvation, of obesity, of cancer

Of disease, it seems just for trying

To live a little longer, to find life’s answer.

But still we all got brought down

By mosquitoes, by money, by politics.

We can’t open our doors to those who drown

On our shores, fleeing their country’s conflicts.

But I saw the Martian dirt, rich and red.

Generations holding hands in peace under that German sky.

Bottles sent by thousands to those drinking lead.

Britain responding to that Syrian outcry.

Diseases can be cured by a desperate soul

Help can make a heart feel whole
