The July Warrior Program is a free transition program for new freshmen to be prepared for high school by learning the life in centaurus in July. From Monday to Wednesday, 8:30 to 12:00 in the morning, students take four classes which are Algebra, Language Art, Physical Science, and Student Success Skills, to earn some learning experience. Students also get a chance to know some of their teachers and classmates, which could make their high school years more successful academically and socially.

The July Warrior Program not only helps students to achieve academic goals, but also makes sure that students could have fun and stay healthy during the program. On each Thursday, it provides field trips, including the Denver Museum of Nature and Science & IMAX, Brainard Lake, Denver Capitol Building, and Ralph L. Carr Justice Center.

It’s really a meaningful program. I joined the July Warrior Program as a volunteer this year. I still remembered  how I helped the teachers during class or at picnics and played with the new freshmen. I still remember that I made 200 cookies with some of my friends for the whole program. I was glad that everyone liked it. It wasn’t too bad to be a volunteer, was it?

What do you enjoy the most about the July Warrior Program?

Mr. Mayrberger: “Getting met to the kids before they are in the actual school environment.”

Dr. Ross: “Meeting and connecting with students and working with awesome teachers. I thin””k it’s really cool to get to know them before school starts, before everything gets a little bit crazy.”

Steven Hernandez: “I like the July Warrior Program, and I like the field trips the best.”
